Tristian Adams leads the team in win percentage with a 28-8 record (77%) and also in team points with 147, Herman Jones leads the team in wins with 30 as well as takedowns with 82, Zack Jennings and Adam Thurman are tied for most pins with 16 each, Stuart Hruza leads in reversals with 18, and Freddie Williams remains the Iron Man with 82 3rd period points on the year despite not even coming close to reaching his potential...


Middle School States

Logan Turner won his 2nd straight State title for Martinsville at the Middle School state tournament this weekend. Cody Martin took 3rd in his division. Great job to both guys and look forward to them moving up to the High School level.


Tri-Match

We beat region rival Carroll County for the second time this season and lost to another region rival Hidden Valley last night. Wrestlers going 2-0 include Ralph Price, Isaiah Clark, and Adam Thurman. Great job to Stuart Hruza for beating two guys this week that had beaten him earlier in the year. Our next event will be an individual tournament Saturday at James River HS.


Big Orange

We had two placers at Big Orange, Tristian Adams (103) got 3rd and Herman Jones (140) got 6th. Stuart Hruza (152) missed placing by a close match. All three of these guys are coming on strong right now and Tristian has moved up to #7 ranking in the state.


Martinsville 2nd at District Duals

Tough loss to MV puts the Bulldogs in 2nd place for the regular season. We beat Patrick County, Tunstall and Basset Saturday to be runner-up for the regular season. Tristian Adams, Devante Preston, Herman Jones, and Stuart Hruza went undefeated on the day. We now get ready for the Big Orange and hope to start peaking for the end of the year.


Middle School still Undefeated

Martinsville Middle School Wrestling is still undefeated moving to 3-0 in conference action. They also won the Tunstall Tournament last weekend (individuals not the whole team participated). Great job Coach Moore, Coach Martin and Coach Carter.


7 Place at LCA, Team takes 5th

Tristian Adams and Zack Jennings placed 2nd, Herman Jones and Ralph Price placed 3rd, Adam Thurman placed 4th, and Freddie Williams and Robert Crowder placed 6th. We finished 5th behind Franklin County (7th in AAA), Jefferson Forrest, Staunton River (6th in AA), and LCA (4th in Private School). Not a bad showing for being young. We now prepare for the District Duals at Martinsville Middle this Saturday. Weigh in at 9am wrestle at 10am.

Martinsville Places 6th at Spencer Chang

We had a good showing at our SC Duals Tournament this weekend placing 6th out of 12 teams. We showed much improvement from last year with a banged up and short handed team. The big guns really wrestled well with Tristian Adams and Ralph Price going undefeated and Herman Jones and Robert Crowder only dropping one match. Herman was the wrestler of the day pulling out a great match against Carrol and almost upsetting Northside. We next compete at Glenvar individual tournament this weekend due to a short handed dual team.
